Bacchus 4.5°-1/4L

Bacchus 4.5°-1/4L
Ref: BB20138

A typical Flemish beer with a pleasant wine-like taste and a rich past. This dark brown beer, which is matured in oak casks, has a slightly acid aftertaste.
A well behaved example of a Flemish Red. There's some blood and guts in there, some acid dripping on raw meat chocolate, a raw turnip and sour cream cheese, but it doesn't have the wow of the Duchesse in all her naked glory.

Baptized in the beginning “Ouden Tripel” this beer brown traditional of Flanders-Western found a new dash under its current name, Brune of Bellegem, a typically regional beer. The Master-brewer uses barley malt, wheat, hop, water and malt caramel to manufacture a beer of low fermentation. This one is then cut with lambic (beer of spontaneous fermentation) 18 months matured out of barrels of oak to give rise to this brown typical of South of theWestern one. Its taste is characterized by a balanced acidity which one hardly perceives. Very quickly, the papillae make one second pleasant discovery: a delicate bitterness followed by a suspicion the marrowy one.

The Belle From Bruges - More Beautiful than the Belfry…
Craftsmen of the Van Houtryve family have been brewing Bourgogne des Flandres for seven generations with a genuine respect for tradition. This rich, smooth brown beer, mellowed in oak casks for many long months, has a creamy head and is at its best when cold. Bourgogne des Flandres confirms
its origins by displaying on its label the famous Belfry of its native Bruges.

Dark ruby red, as red wine. This beer was the first to be called the Burgundy of Flanders. A sour-sweet balance is discovered, set off by the underlying bitterness of the hops. Light in alcohol, the alcohol does not hide or overpower the exciting flavors and tastes in this unique beer. Although cold serving is recommended, taking your time to drink it will release more aromas and exciting wooden flavors towards the end of your glass.

Despite its name, there are no comparison with any wine from that region, or indeed any wine whatoever.
Brewed along the most traditional lines, it belongs to the family of great Flemish brown beers, and has that same bitter-sweet taste. Yet, it is more dense than other beers in the same category. Despite a fairly acid taste, it leaves however a sweet taste at the back of the throat
Deep, dark, ruby red. Nice lasting foam. Smell and first taste is bitter, but then the aftertaste is almost fruity. Very filling, excellent with a heavy meal of game, like duck or pheasant. Altogether a very nice experience.

Pours with a lovely ruby color that positively sparkles; a little pink head that crackles like rice crispy treats ... plenty of carbonation here. The aroma is pure choke cherries with tons of sourness. Nice acridity and sourness that puckers. The fruit flavor creates a nice balance. A lingering malt flavor on the tongue. Positively brilliant.

Rodenbach 5°-1/4L

Rodenbach 5°-1/4L
Ref: BB20828

Rodenbach is the classic example of western Flanders' 'old brown beers'. The Rodenbach range is the result of high fermentation in over 300 oak barrels holding from 120 to 600 hectolitres. It constitutes one of the classic elements in Belgium's beer heritage. At the beginning of the 20th century, it inspired many bids to produce the same type of beers, but these never managed to attain its own exceptional flavour. The traditional Rodenbach (5% vol.), the most common, is a mixture of young Rodenbach (5 to 6 weeks of fermentation in the barrel) and old Rodenbach (2 years of fermentation in the barrel). It offers a very fine balance between sweetness and acidity, in which the lactic acid has the edge over the acetic acid. You can detect a subtle oaky note and a slight nuttiness.
